Lavender is a shrub from the Lamiaceae family that is distributed throughout the Mediterranean region.
It is branchy and very aromatic, reaching up to a meter in height. Its branches are green or reddish in color, whitish due to the presence of hairiness.
The somewhat greyish leaves are born facing each other, are long and narrow.
The inflorescence is compact, quadrangular in section, and the flowers are crowded into dense terminal spikes that end with a set of sterile violet or reddish bracts.
The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the inflorescences.
