Black Chia Raw seeds come from the Hispanic Salvia plant, cultivated over 4000 years ago in central and southern Mexico by the Aztecs, who were already aware of its excellent properties and applications. The name 'chia', derived from the word fat in the indigenous language, is due to the fact that it contains a large amount (up to 25%) of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential omega-3 fatty acid that helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 2 g of this fatty acid). The presence of soluble fibres allows these seeds to absorb up to 7 times their volume in water.
Instructions for use:
They can be added to bread and confectionery, to breakfast muesli or to midday and evening salads.
