It's a small-sized algae with many folds. In Asia, it is grown and processed in the form of pressed sheets. In Galicia, it is found in the wild at low tide and is then ground into flakes. It has an intense flavor and can be used raw or slightly roasted to crumble it later on the plate. It stands out in proteins, vitamin A and pro-vitamin B12.
How can we consume it?
- Raw: Soak for 20 minutes and add to salads.
- Toast: Without soaking, toast for 2 minutes in the oven or pass through the hot pan. Spread on the salad plate, soup, rice, couscous, vegetables, etc.
- Boiled or steamed: 15 min with potatoes, rice, vegetables.
